This web site is here to inform people about the cruelty inflicted upon animals in the farming industry, particularly intensive (factory) farming.
This site is not affiliated to any organisation. The information found on this site has been obtained from the industries involved and leading animal welfare organisations. To find out more about the welfare organisations and about factory farming, animals in entertainment, and animal experimentation, please contact them by writing, phoning, emailing, or visiting to their web-sites (via our links page.) Their help has proven invaluable in the making of this site, however, no statements or opinions on this site can be construed as coming from, or as being policy of, any of these organisations.
Factory farmed animals need your help. Other countries have already introduced legislation to phase out the use of battery cages and dry sow stalls. It is time that New Zealand introduced similar legislation but this will only happen when enough consumers say NO to factory farming.
Becoming vegetarian or vegan is better for animals, better for the planet, and better for you. If you don't want to stop eating meat, there are still ways you can help minimise animal suffering.
Ask your supermarket to stock products that are not produced on factory farms.
Don't be fooled by clever marketing strategies that disguise the true origin of the product. For example, only eggs labelled "free range" are genuine free range. "Farm fresh", "vegetarian eggs", etc are still factory farmed.
Contact your local MP and the Minister of Agriculture and insist on legislation that will end the use of the dry sow stall and battery cage.
Write to, fax or phone the New Zealand Pork Industry Board and the Poultry Industry Association of New Zealand and tell them that you will boycott their products as long as animals continue to suffer inhumane conditions.
